The subject of Egyptology was not my particular taste and I found the mystery story line somewhat dull. Even the humour in the dialogue scattered through the story didn't really grab me. So, regrettably, it's a no from me.

This whole series is wonderful. I believe there is a total of 17 books in this series. I have read all 17 and wish there were more to read. I feel like I come away a smarter person but by reading a fiction book, laced with actual facts. Every book in the this series, I have had a hard time putting down. Gideon Oliver, the Skeleton Doctor is a must read, for those who enjoy mystery with adventure. If you enjoy the TV series Bones, you will love this series..., so much more. Author Aaron Elkins will be an author I will continue to enjoy hopefully more in the future.
Aaron Elkins first caught my attention years ago when he wrote a very interesting mystery novel taking place on Mont-St.-Michel, Brittany. Of course, I longed to visit France after reading of the island and the complicated murder mystery. I haven't made it to France yet, but hope to soon.
In the meantime I've located and read most of Elkins novels and enjoyed all of them. The latest about murder and mayhem near the pyramids of Egypt. Please keep writing, Mr. Elkins.
Fun story with lot's of twists and turns
Dead Men's Hearts is a delicious mix of intrigue, suspense, fascinating forensic anthropology facts, interesting personalities, plot twists--skillfully blended together and seasoned with a light touch of humor by the hand of a master mystery writer. Gideon is charming. Both intellectual and down-to-earth, he can consider himself with a touch of the same wry humor he uses to describe some of the other personalities. His scapegrace fly-by-the-seat-of-his pants Phil takes Gideon and the reader through the back alleys of illegal antiquities stealing and dealing.Back to the drawing board, or rather, the bones--Gideon finds the answers, and they are surprising. For this reader, the identity of the killer was a surprise, yet on reflection, logical.
Nicely put together, this was quite enjoyable in an all’s well that ends well kind of way. Gideon and Julie are a good team and Egypt was the perfect exotic, mysterious setting. On to the next one!
Really liked the storyline and the way all questions get answered. Interesting Egyptian details. Still reading one a day. Now on to the next.

The case sends them through the back allies and bazaars in Cairo to find the killer. The characters are well written and the plot fascinating.
